The school district is abuzz with homecoming excitement. After missing out on many of the regularities of the school year in 2020, the school community is looking forward to some normalcy in the ritual of homecoming celebrations. Each elementary school, the middle school, and high school have “spirit week” activities planned, an outdoor pep rally, parade, football game, king and queen coronations, and the homecoming dance are all part of the planned festivities. The high school assembly will be held outdoors at 10:30 AM on Friday, with an indoor contingency plan. Parents may attend, but must stay on the concourse and cannot be in the stadium seats with students. All schools will release early on Friday, October 8th. High School and Middle School will dismiss at 11:30 AM and all elementary schools will release at 12:45 PM. The Homecoming parade is set to begin at 3:00 PM in downtown Excelsior Springs, see attached map for route. As an added bonus the Excelsior Citizen will be live streaming and recording the parade! Line up for the parade begins at 2:00 PM on Marietta St.
The Excelsior Springs Tigers will play the Homecoming football matchup against the Oak Grove Panthers Friday night at 7:00 PM. Coronation for Homecoming princesses and queen will happen at halftime of the game. King will be announced at 10:00 PM at the dance on Saturday. The Homecoming Dance will be at the high school from 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM in the Commons on Saturday, October 9th. Tickets can be purchased from Mrs. Miles beginning October 4th for $5 each. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Students must have a photo ID when entering the high school, either student ID or driver’s license. Masks will be required and no outsides guests are allowed.
