Community Bank of Missouri Recognized as One of Kansas City’s 5 Strongest Small Banks

Excelsior Springs, MO – Community Bank of Missouri, a notable financial institution with a branch in Excelsior Springs, has been chosen as one of Kansas City’s five strongest small banks by the prestigious Kansas City Business Journal. The recognition came as a pleasant surprise to the bank’s President and COO, Stephanie Landwehr. She modestly admitted that the news of their ranking was brought to their attention by a customer who regularly reads the Kansas City Business Journal.

Founded in 2001 in the Richmond area by businessmen Gary Arnette and Gregg Steele, the bank is currently led by CEO D.R. Landwehr and President and COO Stephanie Landwehr. With branches in both Richmond and Excelsior Springs, the bank’s remarkable performance has set them apart from its competition.

The KC Business Journal assessed all banks in the Kansas City area, categorizing them based on their size. Among small banks with assets of less than $250 million, Community Bank of Missouri was ranked second overall. The ranking considered several essential factors, including data from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Federal Reserve.

Community Bank of Missouri’s impressive statistics include a pristine $50.3 million loan portfolio and an 11.4% core-capital ratio, surpassing the minimum requirement of 6.5% set by regulators. The bank also boasts a strong 68.45% loan-to-deposit ratio, indicating its ability to retain flexibility in its capital base. Furthermore, an estimated 83.34% of its deposits are insured, reflecting the bank’s commitment to safeguarding its customers’ funds.

The recognition received by Community Bank of Missouri highlights its unwavering dedication to its customers and the local community. As a locally owned and managed institution, Landwehr said the bank prides itself on investing back into the Richmond and Excelsior Springs markets and providing exceptional service to its valued customers. With the majority of its staff residing in Excelsior Springs, Lawson, and Richmond, Community Bank of Missouri exemplifies what it means to support the community and local businesses in Excelsior Springs and surrounding areas.
