EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo., Oct. 13, 2025 — The MSHSAA Class 3 State Tournament will be held at Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin next Monday and Tuesday, with senior Gabby Scrivener representing the Lady Tigers.

Scrivener shot a round of 99 at the Class 3 District 4 Tournament at Hodge Park Golf Course on Oct. 9, finishing in 13th place overall and qualifying for the state tournament. She finished the day with three pars and eight bogeys in her qualifying round.

“We knew Gabby would have a good shot of qualifying heading into the day,” coach David Stalder said. She did just that, with the top two teams and the next 15 golfers qualifying for the state championships on Oct. 20 and 21.

“I was overjoyed when I realized I had qualified for the state tournament after missing it by just one stroke last year,” Scrivener said.

Carly Leneave of St. Michael the Archangel took the individual district championship by shooting a round of 79, and Kindell Owen of Kearney was second with a round of 82. Pembroke Hill took home the district team championship to advance as a team, with St. Michael the Archangel finishing in second place.

Stalder, Scrivener, and the rest of the Class 3 state qualifiers will head to Joplin on Sunday to take in a practice round in final preparation for the 36-hole championship to be played Monday and Tuesday.

“My goal for the state tournament is to keep a good mindset and post two rounds in the 80s and see where that puts me,” Scrivener said.

Stalder pointed out that just 84 girls out of 420 in Class 3 made it to the championship, and he feels Scrivener has a great chance to place in the top half of Class 3. She will tee off at 9:42 a.m. on Monday from the 10th hole. Tuesday’s tee time will be determined by Monday’s results as each golfer will be paired according to those standings.
