Lady Tigers Bounce Past KC East to Start Season 2-0
Excelsior Springs (Dec. 4, 2025) – The Lady Tiger basketball team moved their record to 2-0 Thursday night with a 38-15 win over KC East. A 15-0 run to start the game paced the way for the Lady Tigers as they cruised to an easy non-conference win. A 2-2-1 press helped force 24 total turnovers, including 12 steals, with 26 points coming off those turnovers. The Lady Tigers dominated in the paint with 32 of their 38 points coming from the inside.
A 15-1 first quarter was followed by a 7-4 advantage in the second quarter and a 10-0 third quarter to settle into a 32-5 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Lady Tiger defense softened up in the fourth quarter, allowing East access to the lane, with the Bears scoring a game-high 10 points while the Lady Tigers dropped in 6 to reach the final score of 38-15.
Junior Reese Ryan led the offense with 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. Senior Kinley Rogers scored 9 points, with senior Josie Casler adding 8, sophomore Lexy Martin scoring 5, and junior Jaedyn Wilkins adding 2. The team shot 41.5 percent from the field, connecting on 17 of 41 shots.
Ryan had a big night on the defensive side of the floor with 7 steals. Casler and Martin led the team in rebounds with 5 each. The Lady Tigers travel to Higginsville this week to take part in the Husker Classic. They took on Richmond Monday night and will face Oak Grove on Wednesday.
