A Friday Night Mission to Warbird Whiskey

Excelsior Springs, Mo. (Dec. 8, 2025) – If you’re looking for a spot in Excelsior Springs where the drinks land with precision and the atmosphere hits even harder, Warbird Whiskey should be on your radar.

For my latest review, I want to share a little bit about one of our newer eating and drinking establishments: Warbird Whiskey.

Warbird Whiskey pays tribute to American military aviation heritage with an exceptional selection of world-class whiskies, handcrafted cocktails, and a curated range of beers and wines.

A few Friday nights ago, I cruised down to check it out and catch some local live music. When I walked in, the place was packed, standing room only, which is always a good sign that you’ve stepped into something special.

I took a moment to soak in the atmosphere and the music before introducing myself to Audrey, who was working behind the bar. I told her what I was up to and asked her to make me a couple of drinks she thought people needed to try.

My first drink was called FANGS OUT, their spicy take on a Bee’s Knees, made with Barr Hill Tomcat Barrel-Aged Gin, lemon juice, and hot honey syrup. It was delicious with a definite kick. For my second drink, she made one of their holiday specials, The Night Ops, a hot Mexican chocolate cocktail with tequila, whipped cream, and cinnamon. It’s a totally different spin on hot cocoa, and on a cold, rainy night, both drinks hit the spot. Add some live acoustic music, and you’ve got a super chill and relaxed vibe.

Stop in and raise a glass to a united era in American history and the spirit of unity we strive for today. And while I didn’t eat anything on this visit, they also serve soups, sandwiches, and flatbread pizzas. I saw plenty headed to other tables, and they looked, and smelled, fantastic.
