Excelsior Springs Man Arrested on Charges of Statutory Sodomy and Child Molestation

Excelsior Springs Police arrested Gary Dean Tackett Jr. on charges related to the sexual assault of a child under 12 years old. The Clay County warrant was issued on April 19, 2023, with a bond of $100,000.
Tackett Jr. has been charged with statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy and deviate sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 12. Additionally, he is charged with fourth-degree child molestation involving a child under the age of 17 years old when the offender is more than four years older than the victim.
These charges are a result of a thorough investigation conducted by the local authorities, who worked to apprehend Tackett Jr. and bring him to justice. The authorities are urging anyone with any information about this case or similar incidents to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
Child sexual abuse is a heinous crime that can have long-lasting traumatic effects on the victims. The authorities in this case are commended for their efforts to protect the community’s most vulnerable members and bring the perpetrator of these crimes to justice.
