A bomb threat at the Excelsior Springs Walmart on Tuesday afternoon forced the evacuation of hundreds of customers and employees, but a swift investigation by local law enforcement revealed the threat to be part of a failed scam, allowing the store to safely reopen within hours.
Timothy Haslett Jr., facing charges of rape, kidnapping, and murder, appeared in Clay County Court on Tuesday as the prosecution moved to preserve crucial witness testimony ahead of his trial, which is set to begin in December 2025.
