Excelsior Springs Cross Country Opens Season at Tim Nixon Invitational

Liberty, Mo. (August 30, 2025) – The Excelsior Springs Cross Country Teams opened up their seasons at the Tim Nixon Invitational in Liberty on Saturday, August 30. The Tiger and Lady Tiger runners competed against 35 other schools, ranging from Class 1 to Class 5. The meet consisted of a two-mile or 5,000-meter race at Capital Federal Sports Complex in Liberty, with runners competing in varsity, junior varsity, or C team races. Sophomore Luna Bigham took part in the junior varsity two-mile race, finishing with a time of 16:41.7 to put her in 91st place. Sophomore Elizabeth Ringenberg was the top Lady Tiger finisher in the C team 5,000-meter run, placing 38th with a time of 22:49.1. Senior Kate Houck finished in 44th place with a time of 23:10.9. Senior Kiresten Stout was 78th with a time of 25:56.2. 

Sophomores Henry Lockwood and Ivan Overfield finished the junior varsity two-mile run in 84th and 86th place. Lockwood crossed the line with a time of 13:08.3, with Overfield coming in at 13:14.1. Freshman Drake Whiteny was close behind them with a 90th place finishing time of 13:25.1. Senior Liam Hedding led the Tiger runners in the C team race with a 26th place finishing time of 18:42.3. Sophomore Lane Collins ran a 19:29.6 to put him in 40th place. Seniors Conrad Purnell and William Tade finished within 40 seconds of one another, with Purnell coming in at the 20:56.8 mark for 64th place and Tade finishing with a time of 21:32.9 for 69th place. The teams will be back in action on September 11 when they travel to participate in the Marshall Invitational.
