Excelsior Springs Volleyball Rebounds with Consecutive Victories

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. (Sept. 23-26, 2024) – The Excelsior Springs Lady Tigers volleyball team experienced a rollercoaster week, facing both defeat and redemption in a trio of matches.

Monday, Sept. 23: A Tough Loss to Lawson

Excelsior Springs kicked off the week with a challenging match against Lawson, suffering a 3-0 loss. The Tigers struggled to find their rhythm, falling in three straight sets (9-25, 16-25, 21-25). Despite a strong effort in the third set, the team was unable to overcome Lawson’s consistent offense. Senior Kenzlee McDaniels led the Tigers with six kills and a .357 hitting percentage, while sophomore Bayli Crowley contributed four kills with an impressive .800 hitting percentage.

Tuesday, Sept. 24: Rebound Victory Over Winnetonka

The Lady Tigers bounced back the next day with a dominant 3-0 win over conference rival Winnetonka, taking the sets 25-23, 25-16, and 25-21. Junior Jordin Price was instrumental in the victory, racking up eight kills, while senior Samantha Shue added six more. The Tigers displayed solid serving, with Price and senior Brooklyn Sharp each recording multiple aces. The team’s attack percentage improved significantly to .274, showing their determination to regain form after the prior loss.

Thursday, Sept. 26: Decisive Win Against Grandview

Excelsior Springs closed the week strong with a commanding 3-0 victory over Grandview at home, winning the sets 25-22, 25-16, and 25-12. Senior Samantha Shue once again led the Tigers with eight kills, while junior Jordin Price followed closely with five. Defensively, junior Maya Watkins tallied an impressive 19 digs, providing stability in the back row. The Tigers’ effective serving played a key role, as they racked up 16 aces over the three sets.

With their first back-to-back wins of the season the Lady Tigers (4-12-1) will head to Raytown South (4-20-1) for their next match on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
