As the air cools and leaves change, Excelsior Springs and the surrounding area come alive with fun, festive events for the entire family! From trunk-or-treats to pumpkin plunges and costume contests, there’s something for everyone. Here’s your guide to the fall festivals and events happening this season:

October 5th

The Overlook at Crystal Lakes Oktoberfest – Fall Festival
– Time: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM  
– Location: The Overlook at Crystal Lakes  
Expect a fun-filled day with live music, beer and wine, food trucks, and activities for all ages. This free event also includes a family-friendly photo-op area and a pumpkin patch.

Excelsior Springs Community Center’s Pumpkin Plunge
– Time: Register for a time slot  
– Location: Excelsior Springs Community Center  
Kids ages 3-12 can plunge into a floating pumpkin patch to pick out their perfect pumpkin! Registration is required, so secure a spot for just $5.

October 12th

Kearney Oktoberfest 2024  
– Time: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM  
– Location: 106 S Jefferson St, Kearney  
Enjoy live music, inflatables for the kids, competitions, and vendors in Kearney’s 13th annual Oktoberfest. Proceeds go to local charities, including the Kearney Chamber of Commerce.

October 13th

First United Methodist Church Trunk or Treat for Treehouse Preschool
– Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM  
– Location: First United Methodist Church  
Bring your little ones for a fun trunk-or-treat event with costumes and candy galore.

October 19th

Excelsior Springs Community Center Fall Fest  
– Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM  
– Location: Excelsior Springs Community Center  
Come dressed in your best costumes for trunk-or-treating, food trucks, and activities for the whole family. Parking is available at the High School PAC lot.  

Lawson Fall Festival  
– Time: All day event  
– Location: Lawson Park  
A full day of free fun featuring bounce houses, vendors, car shows, bubble ball, bingo, and trunk-or-treating in the evening.  

Blue Sparrow Garden Center Fall Festival Celebration
– Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM  
– Location: Blue Sparrow Garden Center  
Stop by for games, food, music, and a mock pumpkin patch. You can also shop for all your favorite fall decorations!  

October 20th

Elks Lodge Annual Trunk or Treat  
– Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM  
– Location: Excelsior Springs Elks Lodge  
Enjoy free hotdogs, chips, and drinks as your little ones collect candy in a safe, fun environment.

October 25th

Valley Manor Nursing and Rehab Trunk or Treat
– Time: 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM  
– Location: Valley Manor Nursing and Rehab  
Stop by for some spooky fun and trunk-or-treating with the residents of Valley Manor.

October 26th

Excelsior Springs Golf Course Candy on the Course Hayride
– Time: Rides at 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30 PM  
– Location: Excelsior Springs Golf Course  
Families can take a hayride around the course, enjoy hotdogs, s’mores, and collect candy. Reserve a spot by calling the Golf Shop (816-630-3731).

Orrick Lions Club Halloween Car Show  
– Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM registration; 3:00 PM awards  
– Location: Front Street, Orrick  
Enjoy the Halloween-themed car show, live music, food vendors, costume contests, and more. 

Boo at the Zoo (Kansas City Zoo)
– Time: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM  
– Location: Kansas City Zoo  
Bring the kiddos in their costumes for safe trick-or-treating around the zoo, pedal tractors, hay mazes, and more! This event continues through Sunday, October 27th.

October 30th

Excelsior Springs Farmers Market Fall/Halloween Festival
– Time: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM  
– Location: Hitch Lot, 401 South Street  
Celebrate the season at the Farmers Market with Halloween fun, local vendors, and spooky treats!

October 31st

Downtown Excelsior Springs Trick or Treating
– Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM  
– Location: Downtown Excelsior Springs  
Be sure to stop by participating businesses downtown for candy and Halloween fun.

Bill Payne Costume Contest
– Time: 6:00 PM  
– Location: Clay Ray Veterans Hall, 208 Veterans Memorial Dr.  
Join the 98th annual Bill Payne Costume Contest, a longstanding tradition, with free hotdogs and soda available.

Aspire Health and Rehab of Excelsior Springs Trick or Treating
– Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM  
– Location: Aspire Health and Rehab  
Bring the family for a safe and fun trick-or-treating experience at Aspire Health.

Wood Heights Fire Department Trick or Treat
