Excelsior Springs, MO — The Willadsen family, longtime residents of Excelsior Springs, have been named the August 2024 Thrive Curb Appeal winners for their colorful and welcoming home. The award, sponsored this month by Beacon Realty, was presented Thursday by Beacon Realty representative Cora Boothe to David Willadsen and his grandson, Truman Doty.

The Willadsens, who have called Excelsior Springs home for 33 years, have created a standout yard with large, colorful pots filled with Mandevilla sanderi, also known as Brazilian jasmine. David Willadsen shared that his passion for gardening is a family affair, with his grandchildren often joining him in painting rocks to decorate the flowerbeds.

Dozens of painted rocks are scattered throughout the Willadsen's landscape.

Cora Boothe praised the Willadsens’ efforts, highlighting the creativity and community spirit they bring to their neighborhood.
