Wrestlers Grapple with Greatness at State Tourney

Excelsior Springs sent an impressive, 7 wrestlers to the Missouri State tournament in Columbia, Missouri this past weekend. Senior Ayden Dolt became a two-time state champion by claiming victory in the 152 lb. weight class. Last year Dolt finished first in the 145 lb. weight class. Dolt has been selected to represent Missouri in the Kansas City Metro Classic in the 152 lb. weight class. The KC Metro Classic matches up the best wrestlers from Kansas and Missouri. The match will be held, Tuesday, March 8th at Avila University tickets are $15.
Senior Landen Davis (132 lb.) finished in second place for the second consecutive year. After a medical forfeit in the first round, he battled back to make it to the championship match but lost in a 9-1 decision.
Sophomore Micah Danner (126 lb.) and freshmen, Ryne Marcum (120 lb.) and Lane Crowley (220 lb.) qualified for the state tournament but fell short of medaling but showed great promise for the Tiger squad.
Representing the women, senior, Jacey Brewer (125 lb.), and junior, Vada Burton (130 lb.) both finished the tournament with 2-2 records.
