Lady Tigers Tennis Ends Strong Season at Districts

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo., Oct. 14, 2025 — The Lady Tiger tennis team put together a 13-5 record but fell in the Class 1 District 8 team semifinals to end their season.

The Lady Tigers entered the tournament as the number four seed and hosted the Cameron Dragons on Oct. 13. They picked up five wins within the first seven matches to advance to the semifinals against the Savannah Savages.

The number one doubles team of senior Alicja Jarosz and junior Lainey Smith earned an 8-2 win. Juniors Ananya Carrel and Olivia Deere dropped the number two doubles match by a score of 8-3 to even things at one apiece. Juniors Hailey McDade and Kaylee Halfhill gave the Lady Tigers a 2-1 advantage with an 8-6 win in the number three doubles match. Jarosz picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win in the number one singles match to extend the lead, and Smith cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win to put the Lady Tigers one win away from advancing. McDade fell 6-0, 6-0 in her singles match, while Deere won 6-0, 6-1 to clinch the victory for the Lady Tigers.

The season came to an end the following day with a trip to Savannah to face the number one-seeded Savages. The Lady Tigers were unable to come up with a win within the first five matches as Savannah swept through doubles play and completed the number three and four singles matches to claim a 5-0 victory. Jarosz and Smith battled but fell 8-4 in the number one doubles match. Carrel and Deere fell 8-0 in the number two doubles match, and McDade and Halfhill dropped the number three doubles match by the same score. Carrel and Deere both lost their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 to end the Lady Tiger season.

The Savages went on to defeat the Chillicothe Hornets 5-3 in the district championship match to advance to the MSHSAA Class 1 State Tournament.
