Excelsior Springs Community Pharmacy Introduces Mobile Checkout with Nimble

Excelsior Springs, Mo. – A trip to the pharmacy may be faster than expected for Excelsior Springs patients. The Community Pharmacy at Excelsior Springs Hospital has partnered with Nimble, a mobile checkout service launched locally on August 11, to make picking up prescriptions smoother and faster.

Since opening to the public in 2021, the pharmacy has steadily added services to make life easier for its customers. From offering a safe drug disposal bin to now introducing mobile checkout with Nimble, the focus has been on convenience without losing the personal care patients expect.

Instead of waiting in line to pay, patients enrolled in the pharmacy’s text notification system now receive a link when their prescription is ready. A few taps on their phone allow them to pay before arriving. No account setup is required to use Nimble.

What Changes to Expect

While the service may speed up the process, it doesn’t eliminate personal interaction. Patients will still be required to confirm their name, medication, and date of birth at the counter. But because payment and signatures are completed through Nimble, Community Pharmacy staff estimate the system cuts checkout time in half.

Nimble accepts debit and credit cards, including HSA and FSA cards. Copays, insurance coverage, and self-pay amounts are already factored into the mobile payment system. Patients with questions about pricing are encouraged to call the pharmacy before completing online checkout.

One aspect that hasn’t changed is access to pharmacist guidance. Patients who want counseling about their prescriptions can still request it at pickup, even if they’ve used Nimble to check out. Staff emphasized that the goal of the app is to make transactions faster, not to replace personal care.

Since its introduction, pharmacy staff report an overwhelmingly positive response. Many patients are already utilizing the platform, and the feedback received has been very encouraging.

Quick facts about Nimble at Excelsior Springs Community Pharmacy:

  • Enrollment happens automatically for patients receiving text alerts.
  • No account is required to pay, just enter payment information.
  • The process is not fully contactless; patients still confirm details with staff.
  • Debit, credit, HSA, and FSA cards are accepted, with any insurance being accounted for before checkout.
  • Pharmacist counseling remains available at pickup.
