Excelsior Citizen’s New Food Critic Jarrett Sykes Digs In at The Corner Kitchen
Introducing Excelsior Citizen’s New Food Critic: Jarrett Sykes
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. (November 2, 2025)– The Excelsior Citizen is thrilled to welcome Jarrett Sykes
as our new community food critic! Jarrett and his family have called Excelsior Springs home since 2006, and in that time, they’ve fallen in love with the town’s charm and small-town spirit. A self-proclaimed foodie, Jarrett has a passion for discovering great local eats and sharing those finds with others. He’ll be exploring restaurants, cafés, and watering holes across the Excelsior Springs area, offering honest, down-to-earth reviews that highlight what makes our local dining scene so special.
If you spot Jarrett out and about sampling something delicious, be sure to say hello, and if you’re a local business owner with a can’t-miss menu item, let us know, and we’ll send Jarrett your way!
Jarrett’s First Bite: The Corner Kitchen & General Store Serves Up Small-Town Flavor with Big Taste
To kick things off, Jarrett wasted no time diving into one of the area’s favorite hidden gems. His first stop: The Corner Kitchen and General Store, where comfort food, friendly faces, and country charm make for an experience worth the short drive.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Worth the Stop!
The Corner Kitchen and General Store is an absolute hidden gem! Their food is top-notch, the burgers are juicy and flavorful, and the Frisco Burger is out of this world. The French fries are perfectly crispy, and their hand-breaded onion rings are some of the best I’ve ever had. Don’t miss their house-made ranch, honey mustard, and barbecue sauce; they take everything to the next level!
You’ll definitely want to check out their weekly specials. It’s always something creative and delicious that will keep you coming back for more!
The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better.
If you stop by in the morning, they also serve a great breakfast menu that includes fresh, giant cinnamon rolls and waffles, often available with unique flavors ( we tried the Snickers cinnamon roll), biscuits and gravy, and large breakfast burritos, just to name a few.
And because it’s also a country store, you can pick up all sorts of snacks, drinks, and essentials, perfect if you’re heading out to Watkins Mill State Park for a day of camping or exploring.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, make sure to stop by Corner Kitchen Country Store; you’ll be glad you did!
