EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. – Jay-Jay is described as a loyal companion waiting for another chance. The four-year-old has been at the Excelsior Springs Animal Control Center since August and is now their December adoptable pet of the month.

Jay-Jay is a neutered male pit bull, believed to be a pointer mix with a good temperament. He’s house-trained, knows basic commands, and enjoys being around other dogs with proper introductions.

Originally from the Mosby area, Jay-Jay has been through the ESACC once before, but staff say he’s settled in well and remains one of their most well-mannered residents. While he’ll bark to alert when someone new approaches, he’s friendly, non-aggressive, and eager to please once he’s had a chance to warm up.

He walks well on a leash, responds to direction, and would do well in a home that can offer continued structure, exercise, and affection. Homes with dogs are welcome, and applicants should be ready to do property introductions. Staff are happy to help applicants assess whether their household is a good match for his needs and personality.

Jay-Jay’s adoption fee is $150 and includes neutering, microchipping, a heartworm test, and updated core vaccinations.

If you’re looking for a steady, affectionate dog who already knows the ropes, Jay-Jay may be the perfect fit. To schedule a meet-and-greet, contact the Excelsior Springs Animal Control Center at 816-630-0816.
