Beaversons Beautify Linwood: A Labor of Love Wins Curb Appeal Award
Mike and Debbie Beaverson have lived at 819 Linwood for over 22 years. Their home, on a busy corner in the heart of Excelsior Springs, is more than just an address—it’s a monument to decades of care, family memories, and a newfound dedication to beautifying their property after Mike’s recent retirement.
After working tirelessly for years, Mike finally had the time to focus on the home he and Debbie had always loved, but never quite had the time to tend to fully. With retirement came the opportunity to invest not just in small repairs, but in making their property something they could both be proud of. Now, the beautiful landscaping, the attention to detail in every flowerbed, and the neatly mowed yard reflect the kind of devotion that comes from having the time to bring their visions to reality.
And now, that devotion is being celebrated. Mike and Debbie were named the Thrive Excelsior Curb Appeal Award winners for the Month of September. With a grin, Mike admitted that it felt good to have the community take notice.
There’s something special about 819 Linwood, beyond the blooming roses and perfectly placed garden stones. It’s a home with a history that stretches back even further than the Beaversons’ two decades here. In fact, it was featured in the 1970 film Adam at Six A.M., starring Michael Douglas in one of his earliest roles. The house, now lovingly maintained, is both a piece of cinematic history and a symbol of the Beaversons’ enduring commitment to the community.
