Worth the Climb: A Visit to The Golf Hill Grille

(Photos by Jarrett Sykes and Golf Hill Grille)

Excelsior Springs, Mo. – Perched at the top of Golf Hill in Excelsior Springs, The Golf Hill Grille is something of a hidden gem. After hearing more than a few people around town talk about how good the food was, my wife and I decided to head up the hill for lunch one Sunday after church, and it did not disappoint.

Their tenderloin sandwich, while not hand-breaded, is still a large and flavorful option loaded with all the fixings. I have ordered it twice, and it has been excellent both times. Pair it with a side of their golden, battered onion rings, and you have a combination that is hard to beat.

The BLT is another solid choice, stacked with crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, and juicy tomatoes. For those wanting to add a little extra, cheese is an easy upgrade. A side of fries or chips rounds out the meal well.

The fried pickles are a must-have to start, and there are plenty to share with the table.

The Golf Hill Grille offers a well-rounded menu with several options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Whether you are in the mood for a juicy cheeseburger, chicken strips, popcorn chicken, wings, wraps, and more, there is something for just about everyone.

One of the standout features, however, is Taco Tuesday. From the fresh-made chips and warm salsa that arrive first, to the tacos, taco salads, and generously loaded nachos, it is easy to see why it is a local favorite. Guests can choose between chicken or ground beef for each of those dishes.

If you have never taken a trip up the hill, now is a great time to do so. Between the quality food, drinks, and the hardworking, friendly staff, The Golf Hill Grille earns a hole-in-one in my book.
