Baseball Bat Beating Leaves Local Man in Critical Condition

Excelsior Springs Police Officers arrested two parties for an assault that occurred on Friday, 7/30/2021.
At 4:30 PM, Friday, officers responded to the 2300 block of Rhonda Road on a call for an assault in progress. Officers located a male victim in the side yard of the residence, suffering from an apparent severe head injury. Upon further investigation it was found that the victim had been struck multiple times with a baseball bat. He was transported via EMS to an area hospital for treatment for his injuries.
Shane A. Bell, 38, is charged with Assault 1st Degree, a Class A Felony, and Armed Criminal Action. Bell, a Polo, MO resident, was arrested at the scene of the crime. Bond is set at $50,000. The second suspect was released pending further investigation.
The victim was in the hospital in critical condition at the time of this publication, 8/4/21 11:49 AM.
