Middle School Poetry Event Presents Powerful Prose

Middle School ELA teacher Gina Calvin organized the second annual Excelsior Springs Middle School Poetry Reading hosted by Bohemian Sage Art gallery in downtown Excelsior Springs on Friday, April 8th. Students recited their original poems that plummed the depths of emotion, from heartache and sadness to happiness and excitement. The well-attended event also played host to poet Pasquale Trozzolo who shared some of his poetry with the students.
Attendee Kellie Campbell said “It was amazing! Powerful stories from strong voices. My second year attending and I hope it becomes an annual event.”
Parent Christi Harris said “Wow, oh wow. ESMS Poetry night at Bohemian Sage Gallery. Amelia read some very personal and deep poetry. These kids wrote about deep trauma and hurt. They also wrote about joy and moments in time. So grateful to have been there. So thankful for the teachers and staff who came to support them.
