LIBERTY, Mo. – The Clay County Public Health Center (CCPHC) has been recognized by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) as one of only nine environmental health programs in the country to meet the agency’s highest standards for food safety regulation.

An investigation that began in 2021 has led to the arrest of an Excelsior Springs man accused of sexually abusing a minor. Michael Aaron Watson, 22, was taken into custody in January 2025 after authorities gathered digital evidence and testimony linking him to an illegal relationship with a juvenile. Now, as he faces multiple felony charges, a judge has refused to modify his bond, keeping him behind bars as the case moves forward.
