Other Trails, Fizer’s, Morgan Honored with Historic Preservation Awards

Excelsior Springs, MO—The Excelsior Springs Historic Preservation Commission awarded its annual honors on Wednesday, May 8th, recognizing exceptional restoration projects and a tireless advocate for the city’s past.

Jody and Linda Pasalich were presented with an award for Commercial Rehabilitation for their work on Other Trails, located at 115 E. Broadway. The Pasalichs’ efforts brought new life to the historic building, adhering to preservation guidelines while creating a vibrant space for their business that has become a community hub.

Dustin and Tara Fizer were also awarded for their meticulous restoration of 501 St. Louis Ave. The Fizers’ project preserved the structure’s architectural character and revitalized a significant property along a major thoroughfare that welcomes visitors to our historic downtown.

The Commission also presented its inaugural Historic Preservation Champion Award to Sonya Morgan. Ms. Morgan’s dedication to preserving Excelsior Springs’ history extends far beyond her recent retirement from the City Council. As a citizen and public servant, she has consistently championed the importance of protecting the city’s unique heritage.

Historic Preservation Committee meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month, as needed, in the Council Chambers at the Hall of Waters.
