One Step at a Time Ballroom Dance Opens its Doors to a New Location in Excelsior Springs

A sense of excitement and jubilation filled the air as the community gathered to witness the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of One Step at a Time Dance Ballroom Dance Studio at their new location on 423 S Thompson Ave. The event, held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, was attended by fellow business owners, city officials, and students who joined in celebrating this momentous occasion.

Owner Jeri Mickle, a passionate advocate for dance, expressed her love for the art form and her belief in its numerous benefits. “I love dance. I love the way it makes you feel. I think everyone should dance; it’s great exercise, it’s great for couples, great for communication, and excellent for your body,” Jeri shared enthusiastically.

With an impressive dance background spanning 37 years, Jeri’s journey in the world of dance began with Arthur Murray Studios, where she worked for five years before eventually owning her own studio. “We teach the popular dances: Waltz, Fox Trot, Tango, Chacha, Rumba, Bachata, and more. We offer group lessons, private lessons, practice parties, and theme parties,” she added.

The studio’s dedication to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment was evident in Jeri’s heartfelt encouragement to potential students. “Never be embarrassed when you come in here, everyone has to start from the beginning… The hardest thing you’ll ever do is walk through that door the first time,” she reassured.
