October’s Adoptable Pet of the Month: Myrtle the Calico

Myrtle can't help but capture the attention of anyone visiting ESACC (Photos: Stephanie Vincent)

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. – Since August, Myrtle has been patiently waiting in her kennel and roaming the halls of the Excelsior Springs Animal Control Center, stealing affection from anyone willing to stop. As the longest feline resident at ESACC, she is now October’s adoptable pet of the month.

Estimated to be around 10 to 11 months old, Myrtle came to ESACC after being caught in a live trap. She was spayed shortly after intake and has since adjusted well to shelter life. Myrtle is a domestic short-haired calico cat with soft tri-color markings and a gentle personality. Staff describe her as loving, attention-seeking, and well-mannered. She’s fully litter box trained, up to date on vaccinations, and easy to get along with.

While her experience with other animals is unknown, she has remained calm when dogs pass through the building and gets along with other cats. Staff would help applicants determine if their home is the best fit, giving consideration to young children and other animals, though there are no known concerns.

With a mellow temperament and affectionate nature, Myrtle would make a great fit for someone looking for a low-maintenance companion. She’s still young, but past the unpredictable kitten phase. If you’re ready to bring home a sweet companion, Myrtle may be the cat-alyst your household needs!

To bring her home, there is an adoption fee of $80, which includes spay and vaccinations. Those interested in adopting should call the Excelsior Springs Animal Control Center to make an appointment or begin the application process at 816-630-0816.
