As summer kicks off in Excelsior Springs, community organizations are stepping up to support, celebrate, and connect residents in meaningful ways. From the Community Center’s fun-filled Summer Bash and the launch of the Farmers Market’s expanded hours, to the informative Community Resource Fair and the assembly of SAFE Medication-Safe Home Toolkits—there’s been no shortage of activity aimed at keeping our community healthy, informed, and engaged. Here’s a look at some of the highlights.

Excelsior Springs Farmers Morning Market in Full Swing

The Excelsior Springs Farmers Market is in full swing, offering fresh, local produce and handmade goods every Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Excelsior Springs Community Center.

Starting June 4, the market will expand with a new evening market from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., held downtown at the Clay-Ray Veterans Parking Lot. It’s a great opportunity to support local growers, shop unique items, and enjoy the community—morning or evening!

Community Resource Fair Connects Residents with Local Support Services

The Good Samaritan Center hosted a Community Resource Fair on Wednesday, May 14, bringing together area organizations to raise awareness about the many support services available to the public.

The event gave residents the chance to learn more about local programs, while also providing service agencies an opportunity to connect and collaborate—strengthening their collective impact in the community.

More resource fairs are planned for the future. If your organization is interested in participating, contact Julia Mees at Excelsior Springs Hospital for more information.

SAFE Meeting Assembles 200 Medication-Safe Home Toolkits

At the May SAFE (Substance Awareness for Everyone) meeting, volunteers came together to assemble 200 Medication-Safe Home Toolkits aimed at promoting safe medication practices in the community.

These toolkits are designed to help families prevent prescription drug misuse, accidental poisoning, and overdose. Each kit includes information on prescription drug safety, a drug disposal pouch, Narcan, poison control resources, and helpful items like informational magnets and pens.

The kits will be distributed through local partner agencies. Special thanks to Clay County Public Health Center – Missouri and Beacon Mental Health for contributing essential items to the kits.
