EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. – After 16 years as a familiar fixture in Excelsior Springs, Ambiance Salon is entering a new chapter. Ownership of the salon officially transferred at the start of the year to Christy Romazon, a stylist who has been part of the business since the day it opened.

Romazon is a lifelong Excelsior Springs resident and has worked in the hair industry for nearly 28 years. She joined Ambience Salon when it opened 16 years ago and has remained there ever since.

The opportunity to take over the salon surfaced last spring as the previous owner began considering retirement from ownership, but still wanted to continue her love for working behind the chair. Romazon shared that there were conversations for years that she would be the successor to the salon. By May 2025, those discussions became more concrete, with plans set to finalize the transition on Jan. 1, 2026, to mark a clean start to the year.

Rather than purchasing the business, Romazon was gifted ownership, a decision, she shared, was based on a long-standing trust and mutual respect. While she has kept the specifics private, Romazon said the gesture carried significant meaning and reinforced her responsibility to care for the business thoughtfully.

Under her leadership, the foundation of Ambiance Salon remains the same. Services are unchanged, and the focus continues to be on consistency and long-standing client relationships. At the same time, the physical space is undergoing updates to refresh the environment. The salon has been fully painted, included repainting of the floor and older decor removed in favor of a brighter, more inviting look.

Some improvements are already complete, while others are planned over the coming months. Romazon said she has outlined goals that may take a year or two to fully realize, including continued updates to the space and the potential addition of one or two new stylists. The aim is to create a more relaxing atmosphere that feels current while still honoring the salon’s history.

Romazon shared that as owner, she has been able to focus more on the bigger picture and vision for the future. She hopes to strengthen the salon’s social media presence by sharing content like finished hairstyles and the personalities of her stylists. She sees it as an extension of the relationships already built inside the salon and a way to connect more naturally with the community it serves.

For Romazon, ownership represents more than a professional step forward. It is a continuation of work she loves, in a town she has always called home, and a responsibility she takes seriously. As Ambiance Salon moves forward, it has a familiar face guiding it toward their perfectly styled vision.
