Lady Tigers Win Brookfield Wrestling Title, Crown Three Champs (Jan. 19-23)

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. – The Lady Tiger wrestlers had a busy week of competition from January 19 through January 23.

The week began with a trip to Park Hill South High School on January 19 for a dual tournament, followed by a dual against the Raytown South Cardinals on January 21. The Lady Tigers closed the week by competing in a tournament in Brookfield on January 23.

The Park Hill South Duals featured matchups against the host Panthers, as well as Harrisonville, Staley, Liberty North, and Platte County. The Lady Tigers earned one dual victory, defeating Liberty North 48–12. They dropped their remaining duals to Park Hill South, 42–30; Harrisonville, 45–36; Staley, 51–21; and Platte County, 42–33.

Raytown South traveled to Excelsior Springs High School on January 21, where only one match was contested. The Lady Tigers earned all 48 of their points through forfeits in open weight classes, with the lone match on the mat being a 135-pound win by fall for Raytown South.

The Brookfield Tournament proved to be a strong finish for the Lady Tigers, who brought home the first-place team trophy along with three individual championships. Senior Lillah Shue, junior Analese Happy, and sophomore Kylee Jesse each claimed titles in their respective weight classes.

Happy went 4–0 at 105 pounds, earning all four wins by fall. Shue captured the 115-pound championship with a 3–0 record, also winning all three matches by fall. Jesse claimed the 125-pound title with a 4–0 record that included a decision, a fall, a medical forfeit, and a technical fall.

Senior Jona Jansen placed second at 155 pounds, finishing the day 2–1. She recorded two wins by fall before dropping her final match by fall. As a team, the Lady Tigers totaled 107.5 points to secure the championship. Brookfield finished second with 87 points, while Moberly placed third with 84 points.
