“I Just Murdered My Wife,” Texas Sheriff Apprehends Excelsior Springs Homicide Suspect

At approximately 12:38 PM on September 7th the Floyd County Texas Sheriff’s Department arrested Keith Bass II (48) in connection with the Excelsior Springs shooting that left one woman dead and another man critically injured. The Excelsior Citizen reached out to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department regarding the arrest and Sheriff, Paul Raissez shared the account of how Bass was taken into custody. “I was contacted by Floydada (TX) Police Chief Rueben Ramon for assistance on the Ralls Hwy approximately one mile south of Floydada.” According to the Floyd county record, Bass waved [Ramon] down and told him, “I just murdered my wife,” while walking towards him wearing a holstered gun. Bass reportedly told Ramon that he had caught his wife having an affair with another man and shot them both shortly after. Upon arrival at the scene, Ramon handed Bass’ driver’s license over to Raissez who ran a check and discovered that Bass was indeed wanted for “Homicide-Willful kill- Family-Gun- Murder 1st” out of Missouri. Bass was taken into custody without further incident and is being held on a $1,000,000 bond.
