Get to Know Rotary: Excelsior Springs’ Service Club Making a Difference

Excelsior Springs Rotary and Scouts

The Excelsior Springs Rotary Club continues to make a meaningful impact across the community with a wide range of service projects this fall. From supporting Feed Northland Kids with food kits for students in need, to partnering with local Scouts to paint stormwater drains and raise environmental awareness, Rotary members are staying busy with hands-on work that benefits Excelsior Springs. The club is also gearing up for one of its most anticipated events of the year—the Grocery Grab, a high-energy fundraiser that gives one lucky winner the chance to race through Price Chopper with a five-minute shopping spree, all to raise funds for student scholarships.

Feed Northland Kids Food Kits

On Monday, September 22, 2025, the Excelsior Springs Rotary, along with other local partners and Excelsior Springs Hospital volunteers, helped Feed Northland Kids compile weekend food kits for students.

In just an hour and a half, the group assembled 576 meal kits—enough to support Excelsior Springs elementary students for 13 weeks at a rate of 45 kits per week. The total value of food packed was approximately $2,900.

Organizers said the effort was a tremendous success and expressed gratitude for the volunteers who pitched in to ensure students have the nutrition they need outside of school.

Rotary and Scouts Paint Stormwater Drains for Awareness

On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Excelsior Springs Rotary teamed up with local Scouts to raise awareness about clean water and healthy ecosystems. Volunteers painted stormwater drop boxes throughout the community with the message “Drains to Stream – No Dumping.”

The project serves as a reminder that pollutants entering storm drains flow directly into local waterways, impacting wildlife and the environment. The effort drew interest from community members who stopped to learn more, and organizers say the initiative is an important step toward protecting natural resources in Excelsior Springs.

Rotary Hosting Grocery Grab Fundraiser for Scholarships

The Excelsior Springs and Lawson Rotary Clubs are teaming up to host a Grocery Grab at McKeever’s Price Chopper in Excelsior Springs on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.

For a $10 donation drawing, participants have the chance to win a five-minute grocery grab, racing through the store to fill their cart with groceries. Contest rules include a one-minute limit in the meat section with a maximum of one package per cut, and exclusions on pharmacy, alcohol, and tobacco products.

Five finalists will be drawn and notified one week prior to the event. Four will go home with prizes, while one lucky winner will take part in the grocery grab. Tickets are available at local businesses including ReeceNichols Excelsior Springs, Community Bank of Missouri, Family Wealthcare Center, Westlake Ace Hardware, or via Venmo @esmorotaryclub.

Funds raised will support student scholarships, and organizers extended thanks to Pittman Printing in Liberty, MO, for donating printed tickets.

What is Rotary?

Rotary is a global service organization built on the principle of “Service Above Self.” Rotarians work together to improve their communities, support local initiatives, and address some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Internationally, Rotary is known for its historic commitment to eradicating polio, a mission it continues to champion with global partners. Each year, World Polio Day on October 24 highlights these efforts and celebrates the progress made.
