Farmers Market Kicks Off Season with Double Success

Excelsior Springs, MO – The Excelsior Springs Farmers Market kicked off its 2024 season in a big way on Wednesday, June 5th, with a double market featuring fresh produce, local vendors, and fun activities for the whole family.

The market began with an early morning session at the Excelsior Springs Community Center from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., followed by the main event at the historic Hitch Lot in downtown Excelsior Springs from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Morning Market

Nearly 30 vendors participated in the kickoff, showcasing a variety of locally produced goods, including seasonal produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods, and handcrafted items. The “Kickoff” theme highlighted fresh spinach, with many vendors incorporating the leafy green into their offerings.

Families enjoyed a festive atmosphere with a bounce house, balloon creations by Yellow Box Balloons, and the opportunity to meet Caprice Dreams, a local goat farm. The North Kansas City Hospital (NKCH) offered free blood pressure checks, and both the MU Extension and Excelsior Springs Library provided engaging activities for children.

Afternoon Market

The event also featured giveaways from local businesses like Dari-B and Abigail’s Sweet Peas, along with vendor giveaways from Kilgore’s Farm & Flowers.

“The kickoff event was a tremendous success,” said Excelsior Springs Farmers Market Director Tammy Murphy. “We’re thrilled with the turnout and the positive energy from the community. We look forward to a fantastic season of fresh food, local vendors, and family fun.”

The Excelsior Springs Farmers Markets will continue every Wednesday from June through October. For more info check out the Excelsior Springs Farmer’s Market Facebook Page.
