Excelsior Springs Seeks Public Input on Comprehensive Plan

Citizens of Excelsior Springs during a planning session for the City's Comprehensive Plan

UPDATE: With the upcoming weather and cold temperatures, the planning team and city staff have decided to postpone the two-day planning charrette and public open house. We will continue to make updates as they become available. (2/17/25 – 1:40pm)

The City of Excelsior Springs is inviting residents to help shape its future through a Comprehensive Planning process aimed at guiding development and decision-making.

The plan will focus on land use, transportation, development patterns, housing, infrastructure, and economic growth. City staff, stakeholders, and the public will collaborate to create a long-term vision for the community.

To gather public input, the city has launched a survey available online at www.excelsioracommunityrising.com through March 14. Paper copies are also available at the Hall of Waters, 201 E. Broadway St., and the Excelsior Springs Community Center, 500 Tiger Drive.

In addition to the survey, the city is hosting two open house events:

  • Public Open House #1 (In-person): Rescheduled due to weather. Details to be determined.
  • Public Open House #2 (Virtual): Available online from Feb. 26 through March 12 at www.excelsioracommunityrising.com.

Residents are encouraged to participate and share their ideas to help shape the city’s future.

For more information about these events, contact Melinda Mehaffy at 816-630-0756 or mmehaffy@excelsiorsprings.gov.
