A four-vehicle accident on I-35 in Clay County on the morning of February 15, 2024, led to serious injuries for Tommy W. Brewer, a 47-year-old man from Excelsior Springs. The incident took place around 7:35 a.m. near the 5.6-mile marker in Kansas City.

The unfortunate event began when a 1993 Buick Century, driven by Robert C. Harford, 43, from Rushville, Missouri, crashed into the rear of a 2013 Chevrolet Impala driven by Jennifer J. Dowling, 58, from Hamilton, Missouri. This was followed by a 2016 Ford Fiesta, operated by Manuel J. Garcia, 33, of Kansas City, Missouri, sideswiping the Buick. The calamity escalated when Tommy W. Brewer, aboard his 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle, crashed into the Buick’s rear passenger side.

Brewer sustained serious injuries from the collision and was transported to Truman Medical Center by the North Kansas City Fire Department.

The Buick and the Harley Davidson motorcycle bore the brunt of the damage, both were declared total losses and were removed from the scene. However, the Chevrolet Impala and Ford Fiesta suffered moderate and minor damage and were driven from the scene.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and North Kansas City Police Department, are investigating the crash.
