Two individuals, Eric D. Grey of Excelsior Springs and Kourtney Pulley of Concordia, are facing criminal charges following a recent incident involving shots fired in Higginsville, Missouri. According to Lafayette County court records, Grey is charged with unlawful use of a weapon stemming from allegations he discharged a handgun into another vehicle during a confrontation. Pulley faces a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, with witness statements suggesting she may have been armed during the altercation.
Details surrounding the incident come from probable cause statements filed by law enforcement. On April 19th, officers with the Higginsville Police Department responded to reports of gunfire near Casey’s General Store. Witness accounts described a white work truck and a white Jeep involved in the incident.
A traffic stop on the work truck led to the arrest of Eric Grey and his brother. Officers recovered two firearms from the vehicle. A separate stop was conducted on the Jeep, resulting in the questioning of Pulley and another individual.
Grey maintains he and and his brother were searching for a stolen vehicle belonging to Grey. Their search reportedly led them to confront Pulley and an unidentified man at his home in Concordia. According to Grey’s account, after leaving the home they later encountered Pulley and man again at the Casey’s in Higginsville.
At the Casey’s, Grey’s brother allegedly approached Pulley’s male companion and a physical altercation ensued. During this altercation Grey alleges Pulley threatened him with a handgun. According to the report, Grey got back into his truck drove away and then came back towards the Casey’s and fired a single shot through his truck’s passenger window and into the passenger side of Pulley’s Jeep. When law enforcement caught up with Grey and his brother, they observed that the truck’s passenger window was broken. A casing matching a gun found in Grey’s truck was located at the scene, and a bullet hole was discovered in the front fender of the Jeep.
Although Pulley denied having a firearm, an independent witness at the scene reported that Pulley did brandish a firearm during the encounter. Pulley, a convicted felon who was supposed to be on house arrest, has an extensive criminal history, including narcotics offenses, stealing, forgery, tampering with a motor vehicle, burglary, domestic assault, fraud, resisting arrest, and a history of failing to appear in court.
Bond amounts were set at $25,000 for Gray and $10,000 for Pulley at their arraignments.
