In last week’s Excelsior Citizen newsletter we gave Best Week Ever to the Excelsior Springs Grinch! Local dad, Kenny Slavens, Sr. had the fun idea to dress as the Grinch and drive around neighborhoods on his motorcycle. The response from the community was immediate, as citizens sent in pictures they had snapped of him driving by.

But what really got us all laughing was seeing the Excelsior Springs Police Department had pulled him over to make sure he wasn’t stealing our Christmas!

There were several citizens that had reached out asking if they could get their photo with “The Grinch” and so we were able to track him down thanks to comments in our group! Arranging through his wife, Debbie Slavens, Kenny agreed to taking some time downtown for some pictures! Also getting in on the fun was citizen Joe Knopf, who dressed as Santa and handed out candy canes. It was nice of the Grinch’s son, Kenny Slavens, Jr., with Flat Branch Home Loans, to hand out green “Grinch” candy canes to the children, too. There were over 30 children (and some adults!) that came to get their picture taken. Many can be pictured below!
