EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, MO—The City of Excelsior Springs is once again offering its Summer Sewer Credit program to residential customers within city limits. The program is designed to help ease the financial burden of higher water usage during the warmer months. It does not extend to commercial, industrial, or apartment entities and is designed to adjust sewer rates based on water consumption during July, August, and September.

Sewer rates are typically calculated based on the gallons of water used. As usual, laundry, kitchen, and bathroom water goes down the drain and into the sewer system. During the summer, more water is used for outdoor activities such as gardening, lawn care, or recreation, and the water does not end up in the sewers. Citizens who foresee themselves using large amounts of water during the summer months can apply for a a temporary adjustment of their sewer bill. This adjustment is determined by averaging water usage during January, February, and March, and credits are automatically applied to billing statements throughout July, August, and September.

To qualify for this financial relief, residents must ensure all taxes, utilities, and fees are up to date. Applications to participate in the Summer Sewer Credit program must be made at the Hall of Waters Finance Department by June 2nd, 2024.

For more information on the Summer Sewer Credit program and application procedures, residents are advised to contact the City of Excelsior Springs’ utilities department directly.
