Tales on the Trail

Get ready to create your very own exciting adventure at Powell Lake (Century Park), located near the Excelsior Springs Community Center! Tales on the Trail prompts will be set up around the lake starting Thursday, July 11th. This event is Sponsored by Michelle Neely with NelsonKW!
Here are the details:
• Grab a Blank Book: Pick up your blank book (one book per child) at the Welcome Desk inside the Excelsior Springs Community Center any time beginning July 1st, but before July 11th.
• Walk Around Powell Lake: Embark on a scenic walk around Powell Lake, where you’ll discover four Tales on the Trail prompts set up around the lake to help guide your storytelling creation.
• Create Your Story: Use your imagination to write and/or illustrate a story inspired by the prompts you encounter during your walk. Let your creativity flow as you bring your tale to life!
• Turn in Your Story: After completing your story, head over to the Wellness Cafe (inside the Excelsior Springs Community Center) and submit your book on or before July 19th (Wellness Cafe hours that day are from 9am-5pm.) to receive a free frozen yogurt treat!
• Judging: Our volunteer panel of Senior Center patrons will judge the stories, and winners (one per age group) will be announced at the end of the month via Facebook. (Age groups are as follows: Pre K-K, 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th, 5th and above)
• Book Pick Up: Books can be picked up at the Welcome Desk inside the ESCC the week of August 5-11th. All remaining books will be discarded after that date.
