ESHS Class of 1969 55th Reunion

July 13, 2024 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

“55 Year Reunion Get-Together”Our “55-Year” will actually be a mirror image of our “50-Year!” As far as the itinerary goes. Only the dates have changed. Even despite inflation the charge of 35.00 per person has stayed the same! We decided to go with what we did for our 50-year reunion because it worked so well. So if you happen to have Newsletter Vol. 30, 2019, you can follow along with the itinerary. Just change the dates to Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13. Still, I will review the schedule: On Friday, July 12, we will be at the “Excelsior Springs Golf Course Clubhouse Pavilion” from 6:00 to 10:00, or until Timmy Jarman throws us out! Of course, we have his sister Suzanne to negotiate for us. All non-classmates are welcome to join us and visit with us. God bless the 69 Nation! Then on Saturday, July 13, we will hold our main event at “The Montgomery” at 427 Thompson downtown. “Happy Hour” will begin at 5:00 (all day for me!) and will be conducted by the “Ventana Cafe” staff. Our “Banquet Dinner” will be deliciously provided by “Baney Catering” for the second consecutive time and will run from 6:00 to 7:30. From approximately 7:30 to 8:00 there will be a photo session. At 8:00 we will probably have a few speeches and whatnots before our dance begins, with the music once again in the hands of disc jockey Zac Wilkins, nephew of Peggy (Wilkins) Cureton. Now we have the place till midnight, so we’ll just see how long we can last! But that deadline includes cleanup and so forth, as we have to vacate the premises entirely by the 12 o’clock hour: “We gotta git by the midnight hour, cause that’s what the contract says . . .” By the way, those who would just like to visit with us classy guys and gals can probably do so after the dance gets going, and they can always help us clean up later!
A Registration Form can be found here. Come one, come all, let’s all have a Ball!
Don’t worry about not looking like you did 55 years ago. None of us can do that. Not even myself! I’ve got a beard, and a belly, to prove it! Besides, the greatest “looks” are on the inside. How we look in our hearts and in our souls is what really matters. So make it like a “holy pilgrimage” and come and be with your “Excelsior Springs High School Class of 1969” while you still have the chance. We love you and we miss you. While you still can, please come back to our one-of-a-kind Class, and come back home to Excelsior Springs. Let us all give a big “HIGH-FIVE” to our 55!While I have been putting this composition together from my home right across from the home I grew up in on Westview Drive, there have been times I could hear in the distance a train coming down the track, rumbling across the bridge at Wornall Road and over the North Titus bridge. I could hear its whistle sound as it made the announcement that it was passing through my little town. Our little town. I always wonder when it will be that I will hear it for the last time. You know, you never know . .
