2nd Annual ESHS Alumni 3v3 Tourney

Date and Time:The tournament will take place on Saturday, February 1st 2025 with the first round commencing at 12pm.
Tourney Format and Scoring Rules:
This will be a double elimination tournament with normal scoring rules (2’s and 3’s). All games except the championship game will be 2 halves of 5 minutes, with a 2 minute halftime. In the event of a tie, it will be first to win by 3. The championship game will consist of 4 quarters of 3 minutes, with a 3 minute halftime.
Entry Fees & Injury Waiver:
The entry fee for a team of 3 players is $30. Teams are allowed to have up to 5 players total, however each player past the normal 3 player team is an additional $10 (i.e. a team of 4 players is $40). Teams must submit their payment before the beginning of round 1. Cash or check are the only methods of payment we are allowed to accept. Please make checks payable to “Excelsior Spring’s Men’s Basketball Program”. In addition to payment, each player on each team must sign an injury waiver before participating.

Q: What is new this year?
A:
12th Grade Player Coaches This year, we are pairing up our Senior basketball players with a team as an honorary “Coach”. Each team will be assigned a senior to “Coach” them. This is an effort to increase player/alumni connections.

4pt Box This year, we will be taping down a “4pt Box” on each court. If a player makes a bucket from inside that box (located 5ft behind the 3pt line on each wing) that player’s team will be awarded 4 points instead of a traditional 3 points.

Q: Do I need to be an alumni of Excelsior Springs High School to participate? 
A: YES! As long as you received your diploma from Excelsior Springs, you are good to go.
Q: Does everyone need to fill out this form to sign up our team?
A: No, we only need one entry per team.
Q: Once we get eliminated, do we have to leave?
A: Absolutely not! Alumni are welcome to stay and watch the championship game. Current C Team, JV and Varsity players will be providing a concession with snacks and drinks for eliminated teams.
Q: Are there limits on how many alumni from one class can be on a team?
A: There are no alumni limits per class. For example, 3 members of the class of 2004 may play together. A team consisting of alumni from the class of 98, 01, and 07 would also be acceptable.
Q: What if I would like to play, but do not have a full team?
A: No problem! Please email Coach Burch (iburch@ga.essd40.com) and he will get you onto a team.

Q: What does the winning team get?
A: Other than the eternal glory knowing you are the best 3-man team in Excelsior Springs Alumni History? The winning team will receive their names engraved on a plaque, as well as a recognition ceremony at the last home game of the season. The winning team will also receive their entry fee back.

Q: Are there multiple age or gender brackets?
A: Depending on the number of people who express interest, we might be able to extend this year’s tournament into multiple age or gender divisions.
