City Manager Report – June 6, 2021

Excelsior Springs made its presence known at Friday’s legislative gathering in Gladstone, where city leaders joined nearly 160 attendees in direct conversations with Missouri lawmakers. From business growth to infrastructure needs, the delegation seized the opportunity to champion local initiatives and build stronger relationships with state representatives.

The December 4th, 2023, Excelsior Springs City Council meeting was short, clocking in at a little over 20 minutes, and had eleven items on the agenda. Agenda items included board appointments, a pickup truck purchase, Westside CID agreement and amendments to ordinances to conform with Missouri laws regarding recreational marijuana use.

The Excelsior Springs City Council moved forward on several key projects during its latest meeting, approving funding for street improvements, endorsing a resolution to preserve the city’s historic mineral water resources, and reviewing the latest financials. The council also recognized Nate Williams, an influential leader in the city’s parks and recreation department, for receiving a prestigious statewide award. Additionally, Downtown Excelsior Partnership (DEP) Director Lyndsey Baxter presented an annual report showcasing significant economic and community growth in the downtown district.

Highlights included the adoption of the MS4 Storm Water Program update, a comprehensive plan partnership with Olsson Studios, and strategic investments in the golf course and a new trolley, enhancing public and recreational services. Financial transparency was underscored by the approval of Forvis, LLP for the FY 2022 audit, alongside detailed reviews of February’s financials and tax abatement adjustments.
