Progress continues on the Dry Fork Greenway Project, an infrastructure upgrade in Excelsior Springs aimed at reducing persistent flooding and improving stormwater drainage in one of the city’s most flood-prone areas.
After years of struggling with an aging and inadequate storm sewer system, the City of Wood Heights is finally getting a long-awaited fix—thanks to over $1 million in grant funding. With support from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, the city will overhaul its entire stormwater infrastructure, addressing a major concern for residents while laying the groundwork for future street improvements.
With community investments and safety initiatives on the agenda, the Excelsior Springs City Council approved significant funding for pool system repairs, a state-backed traffic enforcement grant, and a zoning board appointment. A long-standing street name discrepancy was also corrected to align property records with historical maps.
Excelsior Springs residents are being challenged to bring their neighbors together—one block at a time. The Neighborhood Engagement Team is launching the Block Party Challenge, encouraging at least 50 neighborhood gatherings between Easter and Halloween to help build stronger community relationships.
