City Holds Public Input Session on Future of the Old Hospital Site Downtown
Excelsior Springs residents gathered at a public charrette on Thursday night to brainstorm ideas for transforming the long-abandoned hospital at Park and Superior Street, with suggestions ranging from new housing options to a nature conservatory overlooking the park. The meeting, organized in partnership with Kansas State University and the Technical Assistance to Brownfields Program, aimed to capture the community’s vision for the site, which has faced redevelopment challenges due to asbestos contamination and outdated infrastructure.
