Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative (PCEC) hosted the 2024 Rural Electric Youth Tour finals at their headquarters in Kearney on Wednesday. Six exceptional students showcased their talent vying for the opportunity to represent PCEC at the prestigious NRECA Youth Tour leadership development conference in Washington, D.C., this summer.
The second annual Night With the Band fundraiser, a follow-up to the highly successful inaugural event in 2022, was held at the Montgomery Event Venue last Thursday. The first fundraiser, held to support the band’s trip to St. Louis, was a resounding success, prompting the decision to make this a yearly tradition.
The Excelsior Springs Klutch, a local 12-and-under baseball team, traded in their cleats for shovels last Friday (4/5/24), volunteering their time to plant trees at Century Bark, the city’s popular dog park.
The Hall of Waters, more than just a place to pay water bills, boasts a rich history. Built in 1936, it features Art Deco architecture and once housed the world’s longest water bar, serving mineral water from 10 wells. Now a visitor center, it attracts tourists and offers glimpses into the past, including an original saline water pool. Efforts are underway to restore water service, revitalizing this historic gem.
