The December 4th, 2023, Excelsior Springs City Council meeting was short, clocking in at a little over 20 minutes, and had eleven items on the agenda. Agenda items included board appointments, a pickup truck purchase, Westside CID agreement and amendments to ordinances to conform with Missouri laws regarding recreational marijuana use.
Excelsior Springs continues to grapple with the problem of unreliable trash service. Since Republic Waste Management, the city’s contracted trash service provider, consolidated all collection routes to Tuesdays earlier this year, residents have been voicing frustration over inconsistent pickups.
The Excelsior Springs City Council has recently approved a proposal to implement a License Plate Recognition (LPR) camera system throughout the city. This decision, backed by a professional services agreement with Flock Safety, marks a significant step in enhancing local law enforcement capabilities.
Discussions ranged from the restructuring of rates at the Excelsior Springs Golf Course to the advanced implementation of License Plate Reader technology by Flock Group Inc. The council also set the stage for the upcoming 2024 Municipal Election by establishing key filing dates. Further, they reviewed a comprehensive pavement condition report from Lamp Rynearson and scrutinized the city’s financial health through the October Revenue Report.
