Alleged Kidnapper and Rapist Timothy Haslett Loses Child Custody in Court Ruling

Timothy Haslett’s ex-wife has been granted sole custody of their child by a judge in the Jackson County Circuit Court. Haslett is presently imprisoned in Clay County, Missouri, facing nine felony charges for allegedly holding a 22-year-old woman captive in his Excelsior Springs residence, where he reportedly repeatedly subjected her to physical and sexual assault over a period of more than a month.
On Tuesday, Judge Marco A. Roldan ruled that the severity of Haslett’s alleged offenses meant that it was unlikely he would be released from detention in the near future, rendering him no longer capable of providing a safe or reasonable living environment for the child. Roldan also prohibited Haslett from having any contact with the child, stating that it would be unreasonable and unsafe until he undergoes a psychological evaluation to determine his fitness to have contact with the child.
Haslett is currently facing charges in Clay County Circuit Court for first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held on a $3 million bond.
