Cultural Guild Announces Annual Murder Mystery Dinner

Inspiring the arts, the Excelsior Springs Cultural Guild, led by board president Darren Jennings, has announced its annual Murder Mystery Dinner event, set for March 1-2 at the Montgomery event venue in downtown Excelsior Springs.

The Cultural Guild, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to supporting the arts in Excelsior Springs through public events and forums. “Our biggest successes have been the Monster Ball and the Murder Mystery Dinner,” said Jennings, “as well as supporting a children’s Halloween event.”

Jennings explained that this year’s Murder Mystery Dinner will be filled with murder and mayhem as guests step into the world of a publishing company where a crime has been committed. Attendees will have the challenge of determining who the culprit is as the scenes unfold.

During the event, amateur actors—many of whom have performed in local productions, including at the iconic Off-Broadway Theater—will bring the mystery to life.

In addition to the performance, attendees will enjoy a cash bar, a silent auction, a wine pull, and a delicious dinner catered by Hy-Vee. “Members of the Guild will serve guests pork loin and vegetable lasagna with roasted vegetables, and all dessert entrees will be provided by guild members,” Jennings said.

For the March 1st event, doors will open at 6 p.m., allowing guests time to enjoy the amenities before the show begins at 7 p.m. On March 2nd, the event will be a matinee, with doors opening at 1:30 p.m. and the mystery beginning at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available for purchase at https://esculturalguild.com/ or by calling Denise Siegel at (816) 679-4443. Jennings added that those needing special accommodations should make their request at the time of ticket purchase.

For those interested in joining the Guild or getting involved, Jennings encouraged attendance at the group’s regular quarterly meetings, held at Casa Di Vite on the second Thursday of each month. “Anyone can also reach out via Facebook, our website, or just talk to any of us in person at events or in the community,” he said.
