EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. (Sept. 9, 2024) — The Excelsior Springs Lady Tigers softball team continued their stellar start to the season with a decisive 12-4 victory against Oak Park on Monday, September 9. This win keeps the Tigers’ record unblemished as they improved to 6-0.

Excelsior Springs showcased their offensive depth, collecting 14 hits while capitalizing on Oak Park’s defensive struggles. Key performances came from junior Kinley Rogers, who went 4-for-4 at the plate with a triple and two RBIs, and Willa Schreier, who contributed three hits and an RBI. Bella Loeffert and Josie Casler also added two hits each, including doubles, further fueling the Tigers’ potent offense.

Oak Park struck first with two runs in the opening inning, but Excelsior Springs quickly answered back. Loeffert’s double in the second inning tied the game, and the Tigers slowly built momentum until a dominant eight-run fifth inning broke the game wide open.

Pitcher Kayden Rogers was steady on the mound, going the distance with seven strong innings, allowing four earned runs on 11 hits while striking out three. Despite giving up two home runs, Rogers’ control and poise were evident as she scattered Oak Park’s hits across the game.

The Tigers’ defense was flawless, committing no errors, while Oak Park’s eight miscues provided ample opportunities for the visiting Tigers to extend their lead.

The Lady Tigers will look to maintain their perfect start when they return to action at home on Tuesday afternoon against North Kansas City. With dominant performances from both the offense and defense, Excelsior Springs is proving they will be a force to be reckoned with this season.
