2024 Homecoming Brings Excelsior Springs Together for a Weekend of Fun

Homecoming festivities were underway throughout the week as each of the school buildings participated in Spirit Days with various themes across each age group. Whether they were preschoolers wearing silly socks or high school freshmen dressing like babies, there was fun involved district wide. In addition to the current students, alumni also gathered to celebrate memories and catch up with one another. Here’s a breakdown of the week’s festivities:

Homecoming Kick-off at Tiger Stadium

On Sunday, September 29th the ESHS Student Council held a kickoff to Homecoming with fun activities on the Tiger Stadium field for all students.

Student Council Pancake Breakfast

ESHS Student Council held a Pancake Breakfast at Tiger Stadium.

Homecoming Assembly

Homecoming Parade

The ESHS Student Council managed a well organized and lengthy parade filled with performances from The Tiger Pride Band and cheerleaders/Tigerettes. Congratulations to the Grand Marshal Joe Greim, who recently retired as the District’s Activities Director.

Homecoming Game

The Excelsior Springs Tigers put up a strong fight against the Raytown South Cardinals in their homecoming matchup on Friday night. The firs half of the game was close, with the Tigers entering halftime holding onto a slim 7-6 lead, but costly turnovers and a dominant second-half performance by the Cardinals led to a 27-7 defeat at Tiger Stadium.

Homecoming Royalty

Nominated and voted upon by their peers, the Homecoming Court took to the field during halftime at the game. Escorted by a parent, each of the female nominees waited to hear who had won Homecoming Princesses and Queen. The Homecoming King was not announced until Saturday night’s Homecoming Dance.

Congratulations to those nominated and who were crowned! (Asterisk indicates winner)

Excelsior Springs Alumni Activities

The Class of 1974 gathered for their 50th Class Reunion this week! This was the last class at the old high school (Roosevelt) and the first to graduate at the current high school. Classmates worked early in the week on their Homecoming Parade Float in the basement of the 414 Company on Thompson Avenue. They tailgated before the football game on Friday night and then gathered for dinner at the Excelsior Springs Golf Course on Saturday night. It was stated that they would be trying to gather as a group more often. Stay connected in the Class of 1974 Facebook Group.

Excelsior Springs Rotary

The local Rotary does a 50/50 Raffle at each home football game, with half of the proceeds going to the winner and the other half to usually a school group that has volunteers to sell tickets leading up to half time when they draw. The pot can get pretty high and this weekend’s may have made a record, with a total raised of $984, ESHS Art Teacher Sherie Renne had the winning ticket, allowing her to walk away with $492! The other half will go to the Rotary Youth Scholarship.

Sherie reacts to being told she's won nearly $500!
Thanks to the Student Council, especially Addison Rubey and Reese O'Dell, for all the work they put into a successful Homecoming for all!
